NFL - Philadelphia Eagles News:

 • Eagles' Kenny Pickett looks 'sharper' turns heads after outplaying Jalen Hurts at OTAs
The Philadelphia Eagles acquired Kenny Pickett in a trade earlier this offseason in order for him to serve as Jalen Hurts' backup but he is apparently looking even better than Hurts at Eagles' organized team activities. The initial post was made by Pickett's personal quarterback coach Tony Racioppi so obviously there may be some bias there.article

 • Spadaro: Saquon Barkley 'feels like a rookie again' at Eagles OTAs
These are building-block moments days to lay the foundation for the 2024 Eagles season but there is a certain level of excitement now that we've had an opportunity to see No. 26 on the field in an Eagles uniform. Saquon Barkley of course is No. 26 and looked natural at the first of the team's Organized Team Activities open to the media on Wednesday. He took handoffs and caught passes from quarterback Jalen Hurts and you suddenly realize the kind of impact he could have on the Eagles' offense this season. Barkley feels it too. He lines up in the huddle and he sees it. "Biggest thing that struck me is my first 7-on-7 huddle you see A.J. Brown DeVonta Smith Dallas Goedert and Jalen Hurts.article

 • Flyers' Salary Cap Situation Entering 2024 Offseason - The Hockey Writers Philadelphia Flyers Latest News Analysis & More
The rebuilding Philadelphia Flyers have the highest cap hit of any NHL team entering the 2024-25 season via CapFriendly but that should come with a major asterisk. How exactly can they do that and what can they theoretically do with this excess cap space? While the Flyers technically have an $87.2 million cap hit (99.4 percent of the league-maximum $87.7 million ceiling) long-term injured reserve (LTIR) will be their friend. Putting players on LTIR can inflict overage charges the following season that can take away cap space but they are typically pretty minimal.article

The 1973-74 regular season for the Flyers saw a huge improvement over the previous year ending up with 112 points based on 50 wins and only 16 losses. The team was led by Bobby Clarke and his 87 points but also had three additional 30-goal scorers (Rick MacLeish Bill Barber and Ross Lonsberry).article

When Bob Clarke wakes up Sunday morning he might glance at a clock and realize it's just a few hours away from the true 50th anniversary of the Flyers' first Stanley Cup.  • Mike Sielski: Bernie Parent was the Broad Street Bullies' brightest star. Now he's the Flyers' de facto mascot.
Starting at the crack of Bernie Parent's rear end the pink and sepia scar bisects his hindquarters and continues meandering upward for close to 12 inches. Minutes earlier he had been standing on the porch of his mother-in-law's house in Warminster one morning in March eager to greet a guest his arms wide and welcoming and you never would have known that Parent had undergone back surgery — his third in five years — in January. Joking is what Parent has done virtually every hour of definitely every day of certainly every year since he joined the Flyers — rejoined them actually — more than a half-century ago. Yes the Broad Street Bullies got the perfect nickname and the pop-culture references and the everlasting adoration after winning those back-to-back Stanley Cups — the first of them 50 years ago Sunday — but Bernie was the backbone.article
